±0.05°inclination accuracy (FIW-01)
175 °Cmax operating temperature
140 MPamax pressure
2 m/ssurvey speed

The FIW series is a family of fiber-optic gyro inclinometers for continuous well-trajectory measurement: three-axis fiber gyro plus three-axis accelerometers with dead-reckoning solve inclination, azimuth and toolface in real time — immune to magnetic interference, which makes it the instrument for cased holes, re-entries and magnetic-environment work. Three classes cover heavy-duty to slim-hole programs.

Highlights

Magnetic-immune north seeking

Fiber-gyro solution works inside casing and near magnetic interference where magnetic tools fail.

Continuous while moving

Surveys at up to 2 m/s — no stop-and-go station routine.

Three classes

FIW-01 heavy-duty (Φ98 mm), FIW-02 smaller (Φ76 mm), FIW-13 slim-hole system (Φ56 mm, 19 kg).

Applications

Cased-hole and legacy-well re-surveys | Window-orientation and directional perforation | Measurement-while-drilling azimuth reference | Coalbed gas hole surveying (FIW-02/13)

How to Choose in This Family

  • Domain first. Underground mining (YHZ), oil & gas wells (FIW) or power current (FCT) — three different physics, one instrument standard.
  • Common thread. All three are fiber-gyro or fiber-optic based, GNSS-optional or contact-free, with digital interfaces for integration.
  • Ruggedization. Mining explosion-rating, 175 °C downhole heat or non-contact HV insulation — matched to the environment that demands it.

Where this model sits: FIW Inclinometers is 175 °C, 140 MPa.

FAQ

Why fiber gyro instead of magnetic inclinometry?
Magnetic tools lose azimuth inside casing or near interference; the FIW fiber-gyro solution is immune and north-seeking on its own (manufacturer specification).

Which class for slim holes?
FIW-13 runs in holes from Φ70 mm — the slimmest of the series at Φ56 mm outer diameter.
