The FCT-MA series measures electric current via the Faraday magneto-optic effect: a fiber sensing loop around the conductor, non-contact by nature, with excellent insulation and intrinsic safety. One instrument covers DC and AC simultaneously; digital output supports harmonic analysis and secondary processing. Three models map to three duties — grid harmonics, power-frequency AC and DC smelting/convertor duty.

Why fiber-optic instead of a Hall or iron-core sensor?
The Faraday fiber loop is non-contact, immune to electromagnetic saturation, and scales from milliamps to hundreds of kiloamps with intrinsic insulation (manufacturer specification).
Can one unit measure DC and AC together?
Yes — the Faraday measurement covers both simultaneously; MA-1 additionally resolves harmonic content to 1 MHz.
